gavi-bittanto-ahmed-sofa book review:

Name of the book: Gavi Bittanta
Author: Ahmad Shafa
Publisher: Sandesh
Printed price: 160 rupees

In the past, I used to hear people say, “Even if a cow enters a university, it will eventually become a human being.” I will not say the name of the university. Writer Ahmed Shafao said in his novel about that university,
“Our university had a glorious past. Many people were proud to compare this university with the spirit of the whole country. The university does not have the capacity to bear the glory of the past.” Although he did not name the university directly.
Abdul Mannan, Professor of Biochemistry, was the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University from 1986 to 1990. The pregnant cow of the university vice-chancellor, who was recruited on ‘special merit’, was killed when she fell in the middle of a student shooting. The novel “Gavi Bittanta”, based on this incident, was published in 1995.
However, the story of the novel begins with Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid, a professor of chemistry. He has been elected the Vice Chancellor of the oldest and best school in the country. No one can swallow the fact that a person like Gobechara, who is naturally innocent, has become the highest position in the country’s best schools. Under the influence of Dilruba Khanam, another beautiful teacher in the chemistry department, she joined the Dorakata Dal teacher politics. Dilruba Khanam was angry with the previous Vice-Chancellor and nominated Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid for the post of Vice-Chancellor. Although he received fewer votes in the subsequent elections, Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid became the Vice Chancellor of the University as the most interesting event of the new year with the approval of the Chancellor.

Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid is an innocent man who has no friends, he does not live with anyone, he does not even go to the meeting committee and he does not want to say anything against the government. He was living with his wife and daughter. The man who passed away after listening to his wife’s meditations suddenly changed his life and character after becoming the Vice-Chancellor.
After becoming the Vice-Chancellor, Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid’s family life became miserable along with the irregularities, corruption, factionalism and pressure from above. Suddenly his hobby is to get protection from everything. He will raise a cow. An uncle of Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid’s wife, Sheikh Tabarak Ali, came forward to fulfill his hobby. He built a barn for Mia Mohammed Abu Junaid and presented her with an improved crossbred cow, whose mother was a Swedish cow and whose father was an Australian bull. The cow is named ‘Tarani’. Gradually this ship became the center of everything for Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid. He even started managing the work of the Vice-Chancellor from this barn. As the days go by, the excitement goes away with this cow.

Disillusioned with his family life, the strained relationship with his wife, the loss of his daughter Dilu, the complexities at work, the inability to express his views on the irregularities and corruption of university teachers, Mia Mohammad Abu Junaid finds peace in his cow. This is where his new hangout goes. The wheel of his destiny slowly began to open. You can’t understand how an innocent dumb person can change his life without reading it.

#Text_reaction:
I read the first book written by Ahmad Shafar “Although My Guru”. I became desperate to read all his writings. I collected “Gavi Bittanta”. After reading the first few pages, I could not think of laughing or crying. I took a lot of time. There is an intoxication in his writing, which just pulls. I wrote the review out of fear. There is no language in my dictionary like writing a review of a book written by him. Mistakes are forgivable.
Favorite quote from the book:
1) During the winter of Tukho, the hands and feet of a person with a good body are also broken.
2) One of the fun things about being under pressure is that you don’t have to do anything yourself, the events go by and the current of events takes everything forward.
3) If the opposition poets utter slogans, real poetry can prevent World War III.
4) It is better to lose to a decent enemy.
